Excel expert David Ringstrom, CPA, explains helpful ways you can improve the integrity of your spreadsheets using Excel’s lookup functions. The presentation starts out with the venerable VLOOKUP function, both with regard to comparing it to HLOOKUP and LOOKUP, but also troubleshooting as well. You'll then see how to improve the integrity of look-up functions by using the Data Validation and Table features. The presentation also discusses alternatives such as the MATCH/INDEX, CHOOSE, SUMIF, and SUMIFS functions.
David demonstrates every technique at least twice: first, on a PowerPoint slide with numbered steps, and second, in Excel 2016. He draws your attention to any differences in Excel 2013, 2010, or 2007 during the presentation as well as in his detailed handouts. David also provides an Excel workbook that includes most of the examples he uses during the webcast.
